How to read a smart-lock datasheet without being fooled

Datasheets are marketing documents with technical decoration. Four lines decide whether the product is real.

Line 1: the mortise body
“6068” or “3585” tells you which door preparations fit. A datasheet that omits it is hiding an incompatibility.

Line 2: the biometric module
“Semiconductor 508 DPI” is a specification; “high-precision fingerprint” is a hope. Demand the sensor resolution and the algorithm vendor.

Line 3: the power
Capacity in mAh plus the standby current in µA. Without the second number the first is meaningless.

Line 4: the standard
GA374-2019 and GB21556-2008 type-test numbers, with a report you can request. Anything else is a claim.

What is missing is the message
If the file has no dimensions, no power figures and no test references, the product is probably assembled from whatever was available that month.

Takeaway
Four lines, ten minutes, and you know whether to keep reading.
